About the hotel
Orillia House, situated only a few miles from York, North Yorkshire, has been described as "a luxury hotel in miniature". It provides bed and breakfast accommodation with the emphasis on quality, comfort and personal service. All bedrooms are different, but all are attractively decorated and well furnished, each with its own individual character along with television and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.
The house itself is over 300 years old and has been sympathetically restored, retaining many of its original features, including beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace and old panelled doors. Our Holiday Cottages sit behind the Guest House in the courtyard. Which, as you can imagine, is a perfect little set-up. York BB & Cottages are quietly situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Stockton on the Forest, just four miles from the historic city of York. Stockton on the Forest makes an ideal base for seeing all of Yorkshire's countryside. . . Its rolling wolds, dramatic dales and open moors make for some wonderful scenery and offers plenty of things to do. Sample the sights, sounds and smells of Viking York at the Jorvik Centre, climb aboard a royal carriage at the National Railway Museum or walk along the tops of the medieval walls which surround the city. Incidentally, there is a frequent bus service to York from the village.

Visit to York
I visited for business and was welcomed after a long drive.
I asked for a quiet room and was put near the front door so I heard every arrival and departure and footsteps and snoring from the room above mine. The bathroom was very small (and the shower in need of some tlc) but was adequate for my needs and size. Breakfast was fine, but I had to ask for scrambled eggs as my order was not taken properly. I slept fairly well as I was shattered but the noise from above did not help. I think the cottages at the back of the property would be preferable to staying in the B&B. The owners were very nice and made me feel welcome.
Interesting just out of town stay.
First thing, parking this was so easy and off road.
We left the car and traveled into York on the Bus which stopped outside near the pub about every 20 minutes, as we have bus passes this was all free too. Breakfast was more than filling and pleasant, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only criticism is that the shower and furniture needed the attention of a handy man. All in all a pleasant and relaxing break.
