About the hotel
Built at the end of the Art Deco period in 1937, meadowcroft is a large and comfortable family home. The house retains many of its original features and is set in over half an acre of well stocked mature gardens. There is ample off road parking on our spacious driveway.
We have an extensive breakfast menu and can cater for a range of special diets including vegetarian and gluten free diets. Meadowcroft is situated a short walk away from Thirsks' bustling ancient market square, with its range of independent shops, bars and restaurants. A market has been held in Thirsk since medieval times and the tradition is still upheld today with markets held twice weekly on Saturday and Monday. Nearby tourist attractions include the ‘World of James Herriot', Thirsk Racecourse, the Ritz cinema and the Sutton Bank National Park Centre. There are many charming walks and trails around Thirsk and very close neighbour Sowerby. Other activities available locally include golfing, fishing, gliding, 4x4 off-roading and swimming or why not visit the state of the art gym at the newly refurbished Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre. The beautiful North Yorkshire Moors and Dales are nearby, with the Yorkshire coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby, 40 miles from Thirsk. York, with its roman architecture, Minster and busy city shopping streets is accessible by train, bus or car and is only 30 minutes away. There is also a range of quaint villages and smart towns within short driving distances. We hope you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay with us here in Thirsk where you will have a chance to relax, unwind and experience some good old fashioned Yorkshire hospitality.

100% would recommend it to a friend
We stayed for my husband to do a cycling event.
Sue and her husband were extremely sociable, easy to talk to and could not have done anymore to make our stay pleasurable. They gave us breakfast early so that we could head out in time. The breakfast was divine with award winning black pudding and a lovely fruit buffet (home grown rhubarb was delicious). Recommendations to eat out were brilliant too and we had a lovely meal at The Black Lion. Would definitely stay again, thankyou.
My partner & I sent a wonderful Saturday evening, it was a real "home from home".
The room was great & breakfast next morning was lovely. We will certainly be returning.
