About the hotel

The Old Rectory dates from dated 1691 and was extended in the 1860's. The interior is relaxed and comfortable with a fresh fusion of styles and each room will make you feel that you aren't quite ready to leave. You will be surrounded by luxury fabrics, warmed by our open fires and tempted by the excellent local homemade breakfasts.

Each bedroom has its own unique feel with two providing en-suite facilities whilst a third bedroom has its own private adjacent bathroom. All bathrooms are equipped with modern shower facilities. We also have a 16th century Hay Barn which is a self contained unit attached to the main house which provides private Lounge, Kitchen and bathroom areas along with a Wood Burning Stove. The Hay Barn has a minimum stay of 2 nights. Breakfast is not served to guests staying in self catering. The North York Moors National Park extends over 563 square miles and would take a lifetime to explore in detail. Within the park there is a variety of scenery rarely encountered within a single region. The coastline is one of dramatic cliffs and small picturesque villages. The appeal of the moorland lies in its open aspect with wide expanses and panoramic views. The dales present a softer pastoral scenery with farmland and woodland surrounding the delightful villages, churches, abbeys and castles. Kildale is an estate, not just a village. For the past 900 years it has been owned by only three families. Today all of the farms in Kildale and almost all of the houses are still owned by the estate and are let to people who live permanently in the dale.

Should have stayed longer

The Old Rectory is a beautiful b&b set in the countryside and within easy travelling distance to the North Yorkshire/North East areas.

Ian greeted us on arrival and showed us to our lovely large room, with all facilities and good views to the gardens and beyond. He then recommended a nice pub/restaurant 5-6 mins.away The Dudley where we enjoyed a lovely meal in the bistro. The following morning Ian provided a tasty full English breakfast, however he also had cereals/fruit and yoghurt for the more disciplined !!. 10/10 and hope to return for a longer stay.

Delightful stay in North Yorkshire

Quiet and friendly accommodation in a very pretty part of the North Yorkshire National Park.

Ian, our host was very charming,. Being very knowledgeable about the locality he was able to give hepful advice about places to visit. The Old Rectory is delightful, with a fascinating history. Our very pleasant room was clean and comfortable and had an impressive bathroom with deep bath and a lovely shower. Breakfast was delicious with a selection of fruit, home made compote and freshly cooked English bacon and egg etc. We certainly plan to return
