About the hotel
Self Contained luxury Bed and Breakfast apartment(Breakfast Pack Provided) This fabulous property is part of the Fishing Boat Inn, a seaside pub/restaurant, with magnificent panoramic sea views and a location virtually on the beach. The pub has an excellant restaurant serving lunch and dinner, guests can sit out and admire the wonderful panoramic coastal views on the grass by the sandy beach just outside. There are outstanding walks leading north to Craster/Bamburgh and south to Alnmouth, the property has just been completed to very high standards with contemporary and coordinated furnishings.
Highly recommended for couples wishing to abandon the car and take walks from the doorstep. This is a self catered apartment with all breakfast facilities provided. Mike and Margaret have been in the pub restaurant business for just under 20 years. They have been the proud owners of two pubs, both in Northumberland and also Yorkshire, before occupying The Fishing Boat Inn. Boulmer was the Gin smuggling capital of England around 200 years ago. In fact, The Fishing Boat Inn was originally a "smuggler's haunt" which is another way of saying "hideout". Pirates used to use the pub as a place to meet up and plan their next jobs, who they were going to steal from next and any number of unethical things that pirates did in those days. The coastline of the Alnwick region consists of over 20 spectacular miles of golden sands, rocky outcrops and sand dunes which provide fun days out for all the family and peaceful beach strolls along the sweeping sands of Druridge Bay and Cresswell. Coastal villages include the lively harbour town of Amble, beautiful Warkworth with its magnificent castle, picturesque Alnmouth, home of the oldest golf course in Britain, the hidden coves at Boulmer and you can enjoy internationally famous smoked kippers and salmon at the fishing village of Craster after walking to the haunting Dunstanburgh Castle. Good view of sea from upper lounge.
Straight onto the beach for lovely morning walks and a good base to explore the nearby attractions. We had a lovely Sunday lunch in the pub when we arrived although limited for a vegetarian (a shame it wasn't open at all on Mondays, but the nearby town of Almouth had a number of places to eat)
