About the hotel

Morpeth Lodge offers 19 en-suite rooms and is just two minutes walk from Morpeth town centre. We are centrally situated only 2 minutes walk from the famous Sandersons Arcade the 30 million pound new shopping centre where Marks and Spencers overlooks an abundance of quality shops. Morpeth Lodge is conveniently only 2 minutes walk from Morpeth bus station which is served by many long-distance and local bus services.

Morpeth is an ideal touring base for Northumberland. Among historical landmarks in the town are a free-standing 17th-century clock tower, a grand town hall originally designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, a 13th-century chapel called The Chantry which is now the tourist information centre and Collingwood House the Georgian home of Admiral Lord Collingwood. Today the town and the county's history and culture is celebrated at the annual Northumbrian Gathering. This thriving market town is just 15 miles from Newcastle, 30 minutes from the Metrocentre and within easy reach of the region’s beautiful coastline and historic castles. We have our own private floodlit car park at the back of the building. We offer en-suite family, double, twin and single rooms. All rooms have free Wi Fi, Freeview TV and tea & coffee making facilities.

Good location but don't expect any customer service

The location of the Morpeth Lodge is very convenient, right next to the bus station from where you can be in the centre of Newcastle in half an hour.

The room and bathroom were adequate but nothing special. There was no desk or table and no armchair so all you could do was sit on the bed. The bedside light kept flickering on and off and whenever it flickered the TV sound went off, which worried me. The main problem with this place is that it is so hard to contact the staff. I was there for three nights and after the young man checked me in I never saw a living soul, either staff or guests. There was a breakfast room set up but nobody in it. To contact reception you have to go outside and ring the entryphone. I am also annoyed that they have held full payment when I gave the card details at the time of booking and not released it yet despite my payment on arrival having cleared. Needless to say they have not replied to an email about this.
