Good location but don't expect any customer service
The location of the Morpeth Lodge is very convenient, right next to the bus station from where you can be in the centre of Newcastle in half an hour.
The room and bathroom were adequate but nothing special. There was no desk or table and no armchair so all you could do was sit on the bed. The bedside light kept flickering on and off and whenever it flickered the TV sound went off, which worried me. The main problem with this place is that it is so hard to contact the staff. I was there for three nights and after the young man checked me in I never saw a living soul, either staff or guests. There was a breakfast room set up but nobody in it. To contact reception you have to go outside and ring the entryphone. I am also annoyed that they have held full payment when I gave the card details at the time of booking and not released it yet despite my payment on arrival having cleared. Needless to say they have not replied to an email about this.
walls are paper thin guest in next room sound like they were in the room with me, shower did not work went from ice cold to scolding hot and back again.
paid more than i would at a travelodge and did not get a breakfast, had to go to morrisons over the road. there was no heating. location was ok was only a few minutes from where i was getting married.
