Not for me
Booked this place at short notice as a stop over point between long journeys.
Not off to a great start as car parking is extremely limited and I had to park some distance away. Not such a problem on arrival as I am fit enough to carry my bags and the weather was fine, but wouldn't be good for elderly or infirm, and in the morning the rain was biblical so I got drenched before going off to work. Bar man was friendly and efficient enough on check in, and showed me to my room. I had booked a single room, so wasn't too concerned at small size (room 7), but it did fail the 6 cobweb test very quickly. Obviously this room hasn't seen a feather duster in quite some time. Bathroom was compact to say the least, and carpet on the floor!. At £55.00 room only, I thought that this didn't represent great value for money. This is a locals pub mainly inhabited by blokes watching the football, so don't bring your wife or girlfriend for a romantic getaway. The bedrooms are above the main bar area so quite noisy until closing time, but also adjacent to a very busy road so noise was a constant problem. Given the adverse first impressions, I chose not to eat here so cannot comment on the quality of the food, but went next door to the Fox, and that was great. Sorry, but not for me.
