About the hotel

St Patrick’s Stream, open all year round, is a chic but modern property set in a mature woodland garden at the foot of Slieve Donard on the edge of Tollymore Forest. At night a shimmering moonlit water exposes evening frolics from Badgers and silent foraging of Woodland Deer. By morning a beautiful orange sunrise wakens the day to a Panoramic view of Dundrum Bay and the Irish sea.

A leisurely stroll along the coast road ends in Newcastle Town Centre or alternatively from the top of the garden walks in Tollymore can begin for nature lovers. 'Where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea' of the popular song written by Percy French in 1896, have made the Mournes the best-known mountains in Ireland. An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Mourne Mountains are the most picturesque in Ireland and were the inspiraton for the writer CS Lewis's magical land of Narnia in his popular children's books the Chronicles of Narnia. In this compact range, 15 miles long and 8 miles wide, only a dozen of the sixty or so individual summits rise above 2,000ft, with Slieve Donard, at 2,796ft, the highest peak in Ulster. The Mourne Mountains and its surrounding area provide every outdoor activity i. e hill walking, rock climbing, mountain boarding , horse riding, fishing and golf. Perfection for the outdoor enthusiast. For the not so energetic Newcastle town centre has a wide variety of shops, resturants and beauty salons to choose from. For damp days there is plenty to occupy children ie Amusement Arcade, indoor play arena and heated swimming pool. For small groups St Patrick's Stream offers ample parking. Newcastle is N Irelands hotspot for 'Bikers', see the display of bikes and experience the atmosphere while having alfresco coffee on the seafront. We welcomes bikers and offer garage storage for bikes.
