I can only comment on Room 1 which was cold and noisy from the street traffic, despite the secondary glazing which was less than useless.
Although there was a heater in the room the radiator was cold and we had to ask on two occasions for the heating to be put on. The following morning it was off again. The light above the mirror didn't work and there was a draught coming through the wall under the sink. The beds were comfortable and tea & coffee facilities were provided. The romanticised description of 'your own private bathroom with key' was misleading as this was a coupe of doors down the corridor, extremely basic with no heating and, again, the light over the mirror didn't work. So don't forget to take a dressing gown. However, the menu and food was excellent and the dining room comfortable and full of Dickensian memorabilia. I can only assume the other bedrooms are en suite and warmer.
Very good, small gripes, would stay again!
Overall the stay was very nice and would definitely stay again.
The bedroom was very spacious with a large comfortable bed. The bedroom was tidy with facilities that you'd expect (kettle/tea/coffee/TV) and was full of character (four poster bed). It was heated using storage heaters though as I suspect the central heating wasn't working, this did mean that the en-suite was very cold (the one gripe!) The shower was also quite weak.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food at the restaurant was very good, traditional pub food, would recommend the braised lamb. The breakfast was a full English, no complaints.
The pub area was relatively small but felt cosy, felt like an old traditional pub which is what we were after. Ideal for a relaxing weekend away (if the bathroom wasn't so cold!)
