On arriving in Kirby Lonsdale, somewhere I'm not familiar with,I drove into the Main Street but it was a one way street, with no sign post to show the car peak to the kings arms, This was frustrating as we drove round a couple of times before finding it, A sign post would have been very helpful.
The staff in the kings arms were very welcoming and informative. The pub is a traditional old pub, with cottages a few feet away in a little court yard
We had the middle cottage that had a sitting room with TV ,comfortable for a couple
Upstairs was a good size bedroom with a double and a single bed in,
It was tidy and appeared clean, but dated,(it is an older property)
Ensuite shower room, just basic, not prestine,
The advantage of having your own door key was invaluable as we spent the evening out and came back after pub was shut
We would stay again for the convenience .
Words fail me
The accommodation wasn't a room in the pub, which we knew, it was actually a cottage attached to the pub.
It was market as suitable for 4 people. However what we found was the living room double as a bedroom with a sofa bed, which when turned into a sofa only gave seating for two people, since there was 4 of us, 2 people had to sit on the floor. The only toilet was in the en suite which meant if the couple sleeping downstairs needed to use the facilities during the night, they had to come through the main bedroom. We found when we went over to the pub for our evening meal that they don't do food on an evening, meaning we had to find somewhere else to eat. The continental breakfast consisted of three cheap croissants, a yogurt and a bowl of cornflakes. Thankfully we spent the one full day we where their in the Lake District. Need I say more.
