About the hotel

After a day surfing or sunbathing, snuggle up in cool, crisp white cotton and goose down duvets and pillows before waking up to breakfast - in bed if you want it. Whatever you do next is up to you. About Cliff House - Cliff House has stood proud with its four identical tall neighbours since it was built over 100 years ago.

These grand iconic buildings were originally built as holiday homes for the gentry as Newquay was establishing itself as a destination for the wealthy to take the sea airs at the beginning of the 20th Century. Over the decades, Cliff House has catered for many different holiday-makers to Newquay. In January 2014, Kate and Paul Worswick took over and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment. We are aiming to plug the gap between the large, sometimes impersonal Hotels and the traditional seaside Bed and Breakfasts on offer in Newquay. Fully licenced for residents and their guests, with free wifi throughout. We now have three parking spaces available for guests (charges apply) on a first come first served basis from May to September. For the benefit of our guests we have a strict no hen or stag party policy. Any groups who book on line will be refused entry and forfeit their deposit on arrival. Couldn't have picked a better B&B

We really enjoyed our stay here, we only stayed for 1 night but would happily have spent longer - the location was perfect for us, not only did we have a direct sea view from the bed, but it was central without being right in the town, and only 10 minute walk from Fistral beach.

Our bathroom was a short trip across the hall, but we prefer a separate bathroom to the room anyway. The bed was very comfortable, lots of pillows to prop you up when reading too. Breakfast was great, lovely poached eggs, a nice view, Kate was very friendly and thought to ask if we wanted extra coffee and even if we wanted new hot toast. Our only teeny niggle was that the night we stayed there seemed to be humming noise coming from somewhere - a dryer maybe. But it went on through the night so perhaps not - we slept through it as we were so tired but I did wake in the night at about 2am and it was still going, forgot to mention it at the time but as it didn't disturb our sleep much I forgot. If the weather had been better we'd have had the window open and the sounds of the sea would've covered it anyway. If we came back to Newquay we'd definitely stay here again, and I'll be recommending them to friends and family too.

Execeeds all expectations!

I'd heard good things about this place but booked with an open mind as one man's meat is another man's onions.

However I can truly say it is the best place I have stayed at in Newquay, and I've been coming for 5 years staying in many different hostels, b&bs and hotels. Super nice owners Paul and Kate, coming down to breakfast was a pleasure for the banter. And speaking of breakfast, a delight James Martin would be proud of ;)

Lots of little well thought out touches like having fresh milk available for coffee in your room and the mini self-serve bar with nuts (and we're talking cashews here). Bed was really comfy, room was clean with classy little en-suite stocked with posh little shower gels and shampoos (for those that have hair!).

I felt like I was leaving an old friend when I said goodbye and I was only there for 2 nights, but I'm looking forward to saying hello again soon :)
