About the hotel
Welcome to Cockhaven Manor at Bishopsteignton. This 16th Century Freehouse Inn welcomes you to our well situated hotel, that provides you with a relaxing atmospheric dining area, and well equipped accommodation. Two function rooms are available.
Our Bishop suite offers full facilities for break out groups, and is completely self-contained including its own bar and eating area. There are four-poster beds for honeymoon couples and the romantically inclined, but we also have single, twin, triple and double rooms. All are en suite with a bath or shower. Cockhaven Manor gives you that 'out of the way' feeling and yet is only 2 miles from Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. The building originates from the sixteenth century - with a number of additions being made two hundred years later. Although it has been modernised in the 1980s, it has essentially retained its old world charm and unique character. Personal service and flexibility are the hallmarks of this independent hotel, and we will be happy to meet the requirements you may need.

Excellent last minute find !
I booked this last minute as didn't know exactly how far down the country I would get .
On arrival I found a large car park suitable for my van , and then I was kindly shown to my huge room by the barman . The room was great , bathroom huge but no proper shower . My meal was well cooked and served and the local beer tasted great after a long day . I slept well , breakfast was as good as the evening meal . The only downsides were the shower , the lady using her laptop in the bar ( quite rude) and I didn't get to meet the in house dogs I had read about .
Enjoyed my stay
The owners are very friendly and I loved the dog.
The manager came to introduce himself to me which I thought was nice. The furniture in the room need updating but that is due to be done soon apparently, otherwise a comfortable room with good views. I was a bit cold so would have liked to be able to put the radiator on but was told too early in the year for that but was offered a heater. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet so had a good night's sleep. I didn't think the food was wonderful as some reviewers have said. The batter on my fish at dinner and my poached egg at breakfast were both undercooked and inedible. Apart from that the food was ok.. Would stay there again.
