Lovely Place - Shame About The Location

This hotel, ideally located near Dawlish Green and all the shops, buses etc.

overlooking the railway station and the green, see view, etc. Breakfast, which is delivered to your room at your choice of time, is excellent and varied. I had thought about the noise of the trains - being so close to the railway line and station. This is no problem as the trains don't run at night and don't start too early either. The downside is the traffic noise - Being located near a major bus stop and at the bottom of a hill, the buses have to rev really hard to get up the hill and ALL buses in Dawlish go past this point. Okay, they don't run late either, but forget about having windows open before the last bus has run. Additionally, the Teignmouth Arms across the road is very noisy - It's one of those karaoke, large screen football and pool table places, complete with noisy clientelle. Due to the location at the bottom of the hill, you get the usual boy racers accelerating up the hill as fast as they can until the early hours. If you need to sleep, you will need to go into the Marine Tavern next door and fill up with plenty of ciders. Another odd one is that I don't think any of the staff live on site. When you arrive, you have to ring a phone number and someone comes round to let you in - Make sure you have a mobile with a charged battery or you will have to use a public phone box. I think it may be better to stay in one of the rooms overlooking the sea where you are more away from traffic. The room I stayed in was to the side, the noise would be even worse on the opposite side to the sea, directly overlooking the Teignmouth Arms.

Thank you for taking the time to review us here at The Blenheim.

I am so sorry to hear that you felt the traffic noise was too loud for you.

All our windows are double glazed and we will be upgrading them to triple glazed this winter to cut out any remaining road noise on the side and rear of The Blenheim.

The Blenheim is situated right on the sea front so 7 of our rooms on the front of the building will be able to hear the wonderful sound of the sea and guests come from all over the world to see the trains pass our property also. As you pointed out the trains and buses do not run late so it shouldn't affect anyone's sleep.

At £59.00 per night for a single guest to stay Bed & breakfast in a newly renovated room with a sea view and which has extras like a kitchen with fridge and oven and a double bed is great value for money especially in Dawlish.

The Teignmouth Inn pub is situated to the rear of the building and does have a Karaoke night once a week on a friday.

Its a great pub and welcomes all tourists and locals alike.. They have a strict policy of turning all music off on a friday at 11pm sharp.

As you were here over the August bank holiday Dawlish was a lot busier than usual so I'm sure that contributed to the extra traffic and people!

I would like to also say that we are a small family run business and work hard to make our guests comfortable, there may be times throughout the day and evening where I am not onsite or because I can't hear the doorbell so in these circumstances we ask guests to call the main Blenheim number so we don't miss them! If any guests have to use the phone box to call me i would happily reimburse the 10p it took to call. We are not a hotel we are a Bed & Breakfast so our reception is not manned 24hrs a day like a hotel would be.

We do have staff who live onsite and I as the owner like to welcome every single one of my guests personally so I can ensure they are all happy with their room and also to ensure they know that if they need anything they can call me anytime day or night.

I am so glad you enjoyed your freshly prepared breakfast as I love to cook and enjoy knowing the breakfast are well received.

Again I thank you for your comments and appreciate any feedback as all we strive for here is making everyone's stay a happy and comfortable one.

Great location !

Really nice stay & a great location, helpful & friendly staff with a good breakfast - although our en suite was a bit tight for room (maybe due to being the last room available).
