About the hotel
Listed prices are per room, per night, and include Breakfast which is served from 8. 30 am. Earlier breakfast is available by prior arrangement.
Dogs are welcome, but please advise if you are bringing a pet, then we can ensure that the appropriate room is available for you. Trem Hyfryd is a traditional Victorian building of Welsh granite with a modern annexe which houses guest rooms and a superb function and games room, providing the perfect setting for all your holiday needs. It stands in lovely extensive gardens with adequate parking for all our guests. We have a bar and a restaurant which serves good hearty food for all tastes and most special dietary requirements. There are no smoking rooms, but smoking areas are provided outside. Situated in the splendour of the Snowdonia National Park, we are just 3 miles from the peak of Cader Idris and at the beginning of the magnificent Mawddach Estuary which flows into the sea at Barmouth, 8 miles away. Coed y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre, one of the best in the world, is just 7 miles away, and other mountain biking centres are within an hour's drive. We are surrounded by wonderful scenery, everything you would wish of Wales, from rugged mountains, streams and waterfalls, bridges, lakes, harbours and rivers to Dolgellau's wonderful old buildings and narrow streets, and of course we are ideally situated for breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. You will find so much to see and do, if you are looking for an active holiday there is a nine hole golf course, fishing in abundance, horse riding, white water rafting, karting, high rope course, mountain biking or walking on some of the many famous paths. You may like to visit working gold and slate mines, ancient monuments and castles or the beautiful sandy beaches of Barmouth. If your passion is for bikes (motorised or pedal power) the routes are endless. There are several gorgeous beaches nearby, to the north from Barmouth and to the south from Fairbourne. We are surrounded by stunning walks for most abilities from a strenuous climb up the north face of Cader Idris, to a sedate stroll along the Mawddach Estuary path, which follows the route of the former railway line towards Barmouth. After your day, you can relax in front of the huge TV screen, listen to music, or play pool, or just join in the joviality in the bar. If you have managed to experience one of our rare wet days (!), we have drying areas and a laundry service.

What a gem!
We were on a walking break, so we picked Trem Hyfryd Guest House on price and location.
What a find. Such warm hospitality and family feel - and yet not intrusive. We benefitted from some excellent local knowledge. We were treated to superb food. The room was extremely functional for our needs, with a larger public room in which to prepare our maps. It is no wonder that so many of the other guests have we met have been going back for years and years. This is more than a B&B by miles, it doesn't have the formality of hotel, it is a real niche place for those en route elsewhere, those who love walking, cycling or (and especially) motorcycling. Tiv and Nigel made us feel like friends and real guests, rather than simply customers despite this being our first visit and such a short stay.
