About the hotel

"Looking for a comfy hotel near the Thames? Located within the world heritage site of Historic Greenwich, our luxurious lodge provides some of the smartest yet most affordable accommodation in London. It's perfect if you're planning a visit to the capital and have a love for history. The Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory are very close by – as is Greenwich Park, the oldest royal green space in London.

It’s still populated with wild deer; though they’re no longer hunted by King Henry VIII. For culture fans, we’re handy for the O2 Arena and a plethora of specialist gastronomic shops, foodie eateries and craft markets – and only 15 minutes away from central London (by train, DLR, bus or river taxi). At The Mitre Hotel, we have 24 elegantly furnished en-suite bedrooms, including three luxury suites; as well as a residents’ lounge, secret garden and conservatory – and let’s not forget our historic pub downstairs. Our rooms offer a world of little extras, including free WiFi, so you'll find everything you need whether indulging in a short break, unwinding after business or simply treating yourself to a special dinner and stopover. Shame about the Customer Service

First impressions count .Arrived at The Mitre and was directed to a locked side door at the hotel entrance.

We were seen by a man at the desk who looked as if we had been an inconvenience. He unlocked the door and showed absolutely no welcome or smile. He merely took details and gave us a key. We had paid a fair whack for the room so we are not talking about a hostel here.

The room itself was very spacious and clean. The decor was a little dreary however. The bathroom was clean but the plug hole didn't work so we could shower only. The shelf on the wall had come loose from its fixings.

The pub itself had loads of atmosphere and a delicious pint of Tim Taylors. A continental breakfast was included. The website describes a selection of breads and pastries. There was just plain sliced white bread and no pastries apart from croissants. Although cold they were tasty. Thought more effort could be made overall on the breakfast.

So, in summary, a great location, an atmospheric pub but severely lacking in customer service and the touches that make a good stay. Seemed to lack management. Innkeeper Lodges should take this on board. Sadly we did not feel like guests but inconveniences.
