Merino hotel bank holiday stay
Stayed for 2 nights as a couple.
£236 for a double room. Parking was a bit of a nightmare because there were no spaces left at the rear of the hotel or in their garage. Parking is not guaranteed however. This was mainly because the last night's residents had not removed their cars when they checked out. My husband was getting quite stressed driving around trying to find a space and eventually ended up parking in the town's multi storey until after 5 pm when a few cars had gone and there was spaces on the prom. I must say though that the two receptionists on duty were fantastic and should be commended on their patience whilst trying to find a space for our car. The room was a lot smaller than expected at the rear of the hotel and although I had not requested a sea view on booking, it would have been nice to get one. However, the room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable . Tea, coffee and chocolate was provided although some biscuits would have been appreciated as we have had them in almost every other hotel/ b& b we have stayed in. The en suite bathroom was very clean and toiletries were supplied. Breakfast was excellent. A buffet starter, cereal, porridge on request, fruits, juices, croissants, yogurts, etc. A full welsh cooked breakfast to follow, all hot and delicious, including black pudding, fried bread and hash browns- my husband's favourites. Service by the staff cannot be faulted. They are all very welcoming , friendly and attentive to your every need. Although we did not have dinner at the hotel, the price was very reasonable. Just under £27 for a 3 course meal and on walking through, it all smelled delicious. The hotel was very busy with it being bank holiday weekend but staff were very accommodating if we made a request. We did not spend a lot of time in the lounge area but it sounded like the residents were being very well entertained as we walked through. The hotel is tastefully decorated and quiet, except for the resident in the room opposite us who insisted on slamming their door on entering and leaving, which made the mirror on our wall shake badly. Being so close to the lift also disturbed the quiet but not annoyingly so.
In conclusion, we had a very enjoyable stay and I would recommend the hotel to others although do request a sea view on booking as there is no view at the rear.
