Being just opposite the railway station this hotel was very convenient for a one-night stay.
It had everything one needs and, although the furniture probably needs updating, it was more that sufficient. The bathroom was modern and the room very clean. Shower only luke-warm and I couldn't switch on the tv are the only negative points.
Wonderful breakfast included-comfortable but clean dust from behind pipework!
Booked in early with no problem so I could then get on with my day.
I would return about midnight. Easy access with key fob-good car park and opposite Warrington Bank Quay railway station-some train noise but nothing much. I stayed in room 4 overlooking station at my request for a more interesting view... 1/wash hand basin hot water didn't come out of tap but I was in a heatwave so use kettle to supply hot water. Ensuite shower room clean. Shower heat controllable.
2/ Room 4 cleanish, HOWEVER need to dust behind room pipework I had knocked my glasses off bedside table and found the dust as I retrieved them. Feather dusters are handy and easy to use. 3/ TV had no signal UNTIL I checked aerial wires and reattached the plugs at each end of aerial cable-the sleeving into other 13 amp plugs and kettle need re-affixing too; such a pity I had forgotten my tool kit as it wouldn't have taken long. The above may seem petty but I was hot and tired. After a sweltering but comfortable enough sleep I felt better and looked forward to the breakfast [included in price!] which was great. The eggs looked tired but fresh ones were cooked for me without me having to ask!!. The waitress was a treasure; all the food was tasty, appetising and not rationed.
After the magnificent breakfast on retrieving my luggage I had to ask the painter to move his ladder as he was blocking the room 4 door. This demonstrates that maintenance is ongoing. Hotel generally somewhat "tired" with carpets looking worn, nevertheless a wonderful building architecturally. I couldn't find any staff to inform of the few points above as I left but I would return, and even stay in room 4 if only to check if behind the pipes have been dusted. If you think I am being fussy, well maybe, but I operate 5 star awarded holiday cottages in Wales so know what standards should be expected!
