Oldlands Farm Bed and Breakfast
Wonderful time, rooms are quirky and have everything you need, highly recommend this beautiful b & b, convenient location for airport, million times better than any hotel.
Owner couldn't do enough for you. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay again.
Last minute last chance saloon!
Davinia needs to find a new cleaner as the dust accumulation and cobwebs was not acceptable. The sheets were clean. The shower room was down the corridor and again was clean but not spotless and very dated. The extractor fan in the shower gave me the fright of my life when it began to scream during shower. The saving grace of this accommodation for me was the fact that it was cheap for a family of 3 and didn't charge extra for our 2 dogs. Davina is a lovely lady and very hospitable.
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review on my property. However, I really wish one of you could have spoken to me at the time, as the rooms have been cleaned and changed six times since your stay on the 23rd April, so any photos I take now may not be relevant. However, this is not acceptable and (although dusted daily) I have spoken to my cleaners and asked them to be more vigilant.
I would like to point out however that the room description clearly states it has an external shower room. I am sorry if it seems dated - it was only re-tiled some 5 years ago and has been designed for wheelchair access if needed. We cannot find a problem with the extractor fan so I am asking an electrician to come in.
Your comments have caused me to re-think my pricing structure however, and we have decided that instead of offering one room at a very low price (which doesn't cover our costs) we will bring the prices in line with the other rooms - you paid £47 which is actually a single occupancy price. On that I have to pay commission to Late rooms, plus 20% VAT, then further commission to the credit card machine company, plus another 20% so there is very little left, (with daily charges per room of £4 for gas and electricity) with which to pay my other outgoings (mortgage, PRS license, food bills, council tax etc) plus staff wages. I therefore thank you for your suggestion and will now charge £10 per animal per night - which will enable me to employ my cleaners for longer to get all the jobs done efficiently, and also charge for cooked breakfasts where a reduced rate is paid ( such as Late Rooms, Air B&B etc). You will obviously agree that the range of Continental breakfast I supply - 8 different cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, jams, marmalades, grapefruit, mandarins and peaches plus tea and fresh coffee is a large enough selection for breakfast on a restricted budget?
Thank you for the kind remarks about me - I do my best always.
