About the hotel

The Hotel Indigo® Newcastle hotel is inspired by Grainger Town, and our design and decor celebrate its culture and the area’s neoclassical architecture. Glass and iron columns in our lobby emulate local Tyneside styles with a modern twist, and artwork in our guest rooms depicts our history. Relax in Grainger Lounge with craft ale brewed specially for the hotel before a meal in our locally inspired restaurant, where guests and locals alike enjoy cuisine and live music.

We’re near the railway station, Grainger Market, and Sage Gateshead Arts Centre, and our team is passionate about sharing the best of our neighborhood’s nightlife, theatre and art scene.

Lovely stay

We arranged a last minute stay and found a deal on Laterooms.

The room was very small but the bed was so comfortable. The hotel exaggerate the Aveda toiletries and free mini bar. For two people we were provided with one tiny bottle of shampoo conditioner and shower gel.

The fridge offered a bag of crisps a Kitkat and two cans of diet coke. In my opinion it wasn't really anything special and not a deal breaker. It wouldn't entice me back.

Impressive hotel in great location

From the arrival, the customer service was fresh and friendly but not over the top.

The room was clean and modern with a huge bed (2 singles pushed together with a topper). The complimentary mini fridge was nice, although only has 2 x water, 2 cans of pop, a kit kat and a packet of crisps. The location is excellent, just 2 minutes walk to the station and 5 minutes to Bigg Market, Collingwood street and the shops of the centre. The check out time of 12 noon is very useful, especially after a heavy night. Only very slight negatives are that their is no mention of the cost of parking on the booking or website. It was £12 for the day/night which is good value, but should be communicated to customers. The shower looked impressive but was an underwhelming trickle. Lastly we ordered a continental breakfast, which was pretty disappointing. However, all minor points which did not detract from a very pleasant stay. Overall excellent hotel with very friendly staff. I will be staying again on my next visit to Newcastle.
