About the hotel
The Cricketers Arms in Rickling Green is a beautiful country pub with rooms on the doorstep of the rolling Essex countryside. It’s halfway between Bishops Stortford & Saffron Walden, & only 12 minutes from Stansted Airport. Set in a wonderful warm red brick building overlooking the expanse of the green & the historic cricket ground, the pub’s the perfect place for a stop-off en route to or from the airport, a short break in the countryside or if you’re in the area visiting friends or attending a wedding.
Step foot through the door and you’ll find a cosy low-ceilinged oak beamed bar with a roaring log fire & lots of comfy spots to enjoy a beer or glass of wine, a stylish restaurant serving great quality freshly cooked food, and pretty views over the green. Hot food is served all day & on the menu is a wide choice of freshly cooked seasonal food - much of it sourced locally - & a particularly good English breakfast to set you up for the day. There are real ales & a thoughtfully chosen wine list with plenty of wines & Champagnes to enjoy by the bottle or glass. The service is warm & friendly. Upstairs, there are ten individually designed bedrooms all with en suite facilities. Some are modern with contemporary furnishings & others more traditional with antique pieces. All have comfortable king or super king size beds, with good linen & luxurious throws, as well as powerful showers, fluffy white towels, complementary toiletries, hairdryer & tea and coffee making facilities. There is digital flat screen television, free Wi-Fi in every room & free internet access throughout the pub. Free parking is available at the pub for all guests staying a minimum of one night & transfers to the airport can be arranged. The Cricketers Arms is just a three minute drive from the M11, with plenty of attractions nearby including the historic town of Saffron Walden with its many shops and boutiques, Audley End House & Mole Hall Wildlife Park.

The Cricketers Arms
A Charming Country B&B, would def recommend for a scenic stay.
Room was immaculate and v comfortable/nicely kitted out.
Our visit was to celebrate our Diamond Wedding Anni.
We requested a nice room, booking a superior one. However it was a dark unwelcoming room, with no drawers, and only three coat hangers between two. . The window was alongside a high hedge, the window was opaqued out so you couldnt see out anyway. No landline telephone as advertised. The breakfast was poor cold, uncooked porridge, precooked sausage and warmed up, horrible. Second morning, No Eggs, say no more. do not think we will return. They know of our complaints.and did compensate, but the anniversary event was spoiled.
