We returned to The Royal Oak for a second visit, staying three nights, having stayed there at the same time last year.
We were disappointed to find that there had been a change of ownership. Generally things were unchanged although it was quite apparent that there was a reduction in local use. You don't expect to be told that the kitchen staff were stressed when we had a wait for our evening meal, nor do you expect a change of attitude when you complain about something. We wish the new owners all the best for their future at The Royal Oak but we will not be returning.
What a lovely find!
Gorgeous country inn with bags of atmosphere.
Great food at reasonable prices. Will definitely stay again and again. Excellent location for exploring/walking the Exmoor National Park.
