About the hotel

Jean Coste is ideally situated for exploring the Languedoc and the land of the Cathars and Knights Templar. The medieval city of Carcassonne ( the largest fortified city in Europe) is just 40 minutes away. Relax on a boat trip on the historic Canal du Midi, experience the local wines from Corbière, Fitou, Minervois or Malepère or just soak up the “French” atmosphere in the open-air cafés and bistros.

The accommodation is spacious, modern and comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. There are extensive grounds and a secluded swimming pool. Sample our traditional and international cuisine prepared from local produce – and our free range eggs, jams and preserves. Home cooking, fine wines and a warm welcome await you. Jean Coste is also an ideal base for house-hunting and fact finding activities. The French speaking British owner is always on hand for local information and advice. Meander through sleepy villages in this largely undiscovered region, enjoy bustling market days, go boutique shopping or visit medieval towns and villages. The area offers wide ranging cultural experiences from the prehistoric cave painting and dinosaur remains at Grotte de Lombrives and Grotte de Niaux to the numerous local festivals celebrating traditions and folklore. The harvests are also celebrated from cherries in May to apples in October. The unique Carnival in Limoux can be observed each week-end from January to March. Hill walking and ski-ing in the Pyrenees are only 60 minutes away and tax-free Andorra is easily accessible. There are various outdoor activities including canoeing, white water rafting etc - for rugby fans several Top 14 clubs are within reach, especially Toulouse 50 mins away. Botanists will be intrigued by the range of wild orchids and other rare plants as will bird watchers with both resident and migrant birds. Jean Coste - Accommodation Accommodation Jean Coste offers a choice of 4 double rooms and one single all with en suite shower facilities. In room tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Exceptional guest house

Lovely welcome from Catriona and Alan.

Beautiful clean bedroom with large en suite , very comfortable bed. Tea and shortbread on arrival. Large patio area and garden with beautifully kept gardens with pool (26degres on our visit) and recliners. Dinner was delicious and with wine included was exceptional value at 28euros. Wished we could have stayed longer as it was so relaxing.
