The location of the hotel is excellent, but the overall experience did not meet expectations.
The staff are VERY hard-working, and do their best to provide a good level of service, but there simply isn't enough of them. This meant delays getting served in the bar, and at breakfast, and at check-in. When we arrived there was a group trying to check-in, but were being told that they had cancelled their reservation some months ago. They insisted that they had not given instructions to cancel, and the hotel eventually admitted that they had cancelled the booking on their system by mistake. As they were fully booked they tried to find them alternative accommodation. I'm not sure whether they eventually managed to do this. It all took ages, by which time a queue of guests (including us) were waiting to check-in. Understandably, the group without the booking were becoming very irritated, and I felt very sorry for the one guy at reception, as it wasn't his fault, and there was very little he could about it. Our room was pleasant enough, but the shower had virtually no pressure. I reported this to reception, and they did investigate in right away. However, although they conceded that the pressure wasn't great, they said that it was 'normal'. It definitely was not 'normal' by any stretch of the imagination. It was no more than a dribble, and made almost impossible to use. I mentioned it again when I checked out, and they said they would look into it. The meal we had in the bar on the first night was average at best, and poor value for money. As this came from the same kitchen we decided not to risk the restaurant, and we ate out the rest of the time. The hotel advertised free Wi-Fi, but I failed find a connection in any part of the building during my stay.
had a lovely night
We stayed here for a night before going to a wedding, and we had a lovely time, the staff were very welcoming And helpful.
Our room was lovely and cosy with lots of tv channels, however there was no phone signal, not that lt bothered me much it just could have had a problem. The food was nice, however a strong vegitarian option for breackfast would have been nice. Overall we had a nice stay and an enjoyable evening.
