About the hotel
This charming country lodge dates back to 1773 and is one of the cosiest places to stay in the Peak District. What’s more, it’s just a short drive from Sheffield and Chesterfield. The lodge offers 10 comfy rooms, a great menu of hearty, seasonal-inspired food, and a wide range of regularly changing cask-ales and well-chosen wines.
Longshaw is a lovely town with many hidden gems: spectacular views, ancient oak woods, sleepy meadows, heather moorland, archeological treasures and millstone quarries. Locals will proudly tell you that it’s also home to the oldest continuous sheep-dog trials in the country. The area is a haven for walking and climbing, but there are plenty of other pursuits to keep you busy, with Chatsworth House, Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Sheffield Ski Village and the historic village of Eyam all on the doorstep.

Just outside Sheffield, but close enough!
Booked this inn as it was close to Chatsworth, somewhere we had wanted to visit for many years.
First impression of our room was that it was enormous and seemed very good although next to the rood, so some noise as we needed to have the double glazed windows open as we had struck lucky & it was lovely weather. My main dismay was when I discovered there was no hairdryer in the room & having just driven 4 hours in a hot, sticky car I wanted a shower & to wash mt hair before dinner. I sent hubby off in search of one only to have him return to tell me they didn't provide hairdryers anymore due to health & safety...well that was a joke as the we had to get help to switch the TV on due a a loose wire at the back. so I reminded the guy my husband had spoken too about this & a hairdryer was then found for me, although it blew up the next morning, so a second one was found. Then the loo seat was loose, and the TV remote didn't work, but to be very far when this things were mentioned to the landlady, who was extremely friendly and accommodating she did everything she could to rectify these issues ASAP.
The food was excellent, the location was ideal for our purpose, and if we are in that area agin we would stay again.
