About the hotel
This lakeside lodge is just five miles south of Guildford, and so makes for a characterful yet convenient base for short breaks in Surrey. Surrounded by picturesque gardens, the hotel was built in the 1930s to make the most of views across the lake. And it certainly fulfils its purpose, providing the perfect retreat in which to unwind and enjoy some of the finest countryside in Southern England.
Food lovers are in for a treat, as the lodge is home to a stylish pub serving a menu of classic and contemporary dishes, including wood-fired pizzas, steaks and daily fish specials. Goldalming is something of a Surrey jewel, with its cottages nestled against a backdrop of beautiful wooded hills by the River Wey. A few miles up the road is Guildford, where you can explore the cathedral and its 20 acres of parkland, or stroll around the gardens of the old castle. The National Trust’s Clandon Park mansion and 18th century Hatchlands Park are well worth a visit too.

Stayed at The Inn on The Lake because my friend was getting married locally.
I have never had such friendly service. We were created by a lovely happy and friendly lady who checked us in and then ordered us a taxi to the wedding venue.
In the morning, I was a little jaded, but we had more friendly staff serving us breakfast and checking us out. All smiles and friendliness.
We had the family room. It was big, bright and very comfortable. My one and only criticism and it's a very minor one....I had to put a loo roll on the loo roll holder. Other than that a fab B&B. We didn't eat an evening meal, just breakfast. We had the full English, which we paid extra for and it was lovely.
All in all, lovely place, lovely staff, lovely room, lovely stay
Turned out OK in the end.
We were disappointed to be rung at noon on Saturday as we were about to leave to be told that the family room we had booked 2 months ago was unavailable due to a flooding incident that morning.
We were downgraded to a basic room but they did put in 2 chairs in lieu of the sofabed we didn't get. However on arrival the reception Manager, Emma, got us a complimentary bottle of wine and a promise of full cooked breakfast on both days by way of apology. That was handled very well and we were thoroughly looked after that day and at the evening meal. The food was lovely but the restaurant was particularly noisy, lacking any soft furnishings to dull the noise. Staff were helpful and attentive all night. The room had a very good sized bathroom with great power shower, although it's been reported several times that the shower controls are not attached and fall off the wall. Lovely comfy bed and a Juliette balcony which meant you could open the sliding door for cool air instead of only a small opening window - although wait till everybody has gone home as it's above the terrace area. Kettle provided, tea/coffee/milks. Hairdryer in room - proper sized one too. Very good. Plenty of storage in the wardrobe. Great shelf areas. All in all a good but little tired room. Monday breakfast was a little chaotic - we had to ask for menus, salt, sauces, coffee and I just gave up with the missing orange juice and yoghurts. The cooked breakfast was very delicious and we enjoyed it, thank you very much. Wifi was very slow all over the hotel We stayed in room 12 by the way.
