Romantic weekend

Well the place looked nice we had a warm welcome from the desk staff, shown are room that was nice and cosy.

We were asked did we want to dine in the hotel we agreed and ordered our food for 7.00. The room was large and well furnished but after we had looked around there was large cob webs on the cupboard above the bed. The area we were in was quite pretty so we decided to go outside for a sit down and take in the veiws. Dinner came along at 7.00 we entered the restaurant only to be told quite curtly we had to wait in the bar before entering the restaurant. We waited for about 15 minutes before being asked into the restaurant. The restaurant is built on the south side of the hotel and has large windows were the sun was shinning through straight into my partners eyes. we asked if they could close the blinds as we asked the lady on the table next to us asked the same question as she had sun burn on her face. The reply from the waiting staff was dont worry the sun will only be there for half an hour and then left !!!. The food came and was good, my partner had asked for pavlova and I asked for the cheese board, the Pavlova cream was at the point of being well passed its sell by date, the cream was just at the point of being sour. After our meal we asked for coffee but were told you have to go to the bar and ask!!.

After the dining experience we went to the bar ordered some drinks and went to sit on the chairs on the outside, only to find them covered in bird excrement so retreated back to the bar.

All in all I would not class this as a 5 star hotel and was disappointed with the service of the dining staff.

One night stay

We stayed for one night only on a two day break.

The hotel was excellent - I wasn't sure what to expect with HF, as the other guests were clearly a single group. We didn't eat at the Hotel - it looked good but rather expensive and we had eaten only a short time earlier. The breakfast was excellent, as per other reviews. The room was large, with a great view. The hotel can be difficult to find off the main road, despite the sign, as you come across it very quickly. The staff were very friendly.
