Excellent service, accommodation and evening meal - shame about breakfast
There was a slight issue with our room on arrival but this was quickly and professionally dealt with by the duty manager.
We ended up in room number 4, which was spacious and comfortable with excellent views. We dined at the hotel that evening. The food was extremely good and, again, the service was excellent, the manager being particularly attentive. Breakfast was another story: whilst the hotel obviously uses high-quality ingredients, presentation was rather mediocre and the service in general was very poor. Despite our arriving 30 minutes before breakfast service ended, many items on the buffet table were in need of replenishment and it took a while to find a member of staff to raise this with. When we did, I mentioned that my wife and I wanted the fresh fruit salad and yoghourt (both of which had run out) and asked the waiter whether he would be serving us this at our table or replenishing the buffet, in which case would he let us know when this had been done so we could then help ourselves. He told me he wasn't sure and would check but never returned with an answer. In the meantime, some five minutes after I had made that request, we were served with our cooked breakfast meaning we had to forego the 'starter'; we didn't want to cause a fuss by sending the cooked breakfast back.
It's a shame because breakfast on the final day is one's last experience of the stay and needs to be a positive one. All in all, this was a good stay but a few little tweaks at breakfast could have made it a great stay.
