About the hotel
Take a detour from the well trodden tourist route and discover a real Scottish welcome at the Oak Tree Inn in the picturesque village of Balmaha, Loch Lomond. Situated on the quieter eastern shore of the loch, this family owned inn gives you the perfect base from which to explore the stunning countryside or take a cruise on the loch. We recently won the SLTN Pub/Bar of the Year 2012 and in 2011 were Bar/Restaurant of the Year in the CIS Excellence Awards.
We have up to 70 malt whiskies available in the bar, most of which are very popular. The locally distilled 10 year old malt is Glengoyne which has won many prestigious awards. Standing in the shade of a magnificent 500 year old oak tree, this unique country Inn which is constructed from locally quarried slate, offers a perfect tranquil location for those wishing to escape from the rush of modern day life. Our B&B accommodation consists of deluxe, standard, single and bunk rooms, some of these are located in traditional cottages nearby.

Birthday weekend treat
Our kids paid for a weekend break at the Oak Tree Inn hotel at Balmaha for my wife's 60th birthday.
It was our first stay on Loch Lomond and my wife's first trip to Scotland. We'd read a lot of reviews and we were looking forward to our stay at the Oak Tree Inn.
We stayed in a room in one of the cottages which was clean and reasonably comfortable, although one the windows was cracked and the sound insulation was pretty poor in the plumbing department. (the sound of the taps running and toilet filling from the floor below was quite evident in our room). The matresses on the two single beds in our room were completely worn out and we could feel the springs on our backs . The first night was not very comfortable and we complained at reception the next morning. The receptionist(s) were extremely helpful and offered us another room for the second night, they also went out of their way to provide us with some decaffeinated coffee, which they hadn't provided in the room. Despite being given the keys to another room my wife and I turned the mattresses in our room and had a better second night in our original room. The food was OK but nothing special. The menu choice was limited and pricey for what was on offer (£22 for a steak !). Breakfast was good with a choice of hot and cold food, fruit juices etc and plenty of tea or coffee. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Oak Tree Inn but it could have been a better !
nice view, good atmosphere
