Comfy stay

The Hind is steeped in history and looks lovely from the exterior.

The staff on reception are friendly and welcoming and the rooms spacious however this interior hasn't had much of an upgrade for years and there are worn stair carpets and dated bathrooms. If theses things don't bother you then you will have a comfy stay. The breakfast experience lets the place down.....on our trip there were two young adults waiting on tables who didn't cope well ....after sitting at our table for twenty five minutes we decided to ask a young guy for tea and if he would take our order. A bit of staff training here is needed but all in all we had a good stay.

Mixed review

This is such a conveniently located hotel, it should be the only place to stay but there are a few things holding it back.

There is a lot of noise around the building from contractors, staff shouting and 1 customer was very noisy, rude and made me and other feel uncomfortable in the bar, by shouting, belching. That spoiled a quiet night. The room itself was a good size with good facilities but wasn't cleaned well (empty bottle on floor, hairs in bath, black floaters inside kettle & marks in cup) but the bed was spotless.

Food was fantastic and the staff were all friendly, helpful and seemed to enjoy being at work; that made me feel welcomed. It needs a refurb but I hear that is planned so won't say more on that. The shower is dangerously hot & made a terrible noise, which needs urgent attention. If they added a height adjustable chair so you could work at the desk, then this would complete the business person's needs. There was free wifi and the signal was grand. Overall a very nice, inexpensive place to stay but they need to sort out the easy things like safety, shouting, cleaning, Would stay again if there were sorted & that's even without a refurb.
