Abersoch 10k weekend
Perfect location, clean room, modern bathroom and excellent breakfast.
Great value for money.
Reception is unmanned so we arrived to a printed notice saying keys were in room door - it had my name on for all to see - so anyone could have used my name and room number to sign for drinks from the (also unmanned) 'bar' adding them to my bill - they didn't, but that was no thanks to the owners who leave guests to sort themselves out in this way.
Room was cold on the first night - slightly warmer the second. Although when we and the friends who joined us the second night arrived, we were locked out - I rang the hotel number this was received with - 'Oh great. We'll be there in five minutes' - the hacked off attitude and lack of apology was astonishing. I then received a call back and told 'You do know you've got a key for the outside door with your room key?!' again an aggressive tone and no apology. When, after a full eighteen minutes, the owners arrived, I was asked for our key, handing this over for the owner to check for herself that it was not a matter of the four adults present not knowing how to use a key, but that someone had dropped the latch - still nothing resembling an apology. The owners accessed the property via the back door and let us in - their attitude was simply to be livid about being inconvenienced. I entered our room to find that the cobwebs present on the first night had been removed and the room cleaned, but the damp towels were still in the shower tray - I informed Debbie who arrived at our door a few minutes later with a bundle of towels and an apology - she even asked if there was anything further we needed. Too little too late, we didn't stay for a second breakfast, although the member of staff, who served our breakfast on the first morning, was more friendly and helpful and served a perfect boiled egg, the feeling that we were rationed to two slices each (in fairness, I didn't challenge this) of the toast which one could tie knots in was quite off-putting.
