If you like being left to your own devices, this place is fine.
Peter the owner was there to greet us but we didn't see him again even though we stayed 7 nights. Pat the chambermaid was lovely and even left toys for the kids in the room. However, the room often smelled of cigarettes even though the hotel is supposedly non smoking, and the wardrobes were covered in dust at the top. We often let ourself in and out the back door and were fine with that but it could be a little disconcerting if you're not expecting it. No A/C so stifling hot in summer. No lift, so not suitable for very young families or elderly. Absolutely stunning Indian restaurant next door with fantastic food and very attentive staff - they do a 50% discount on Sunday's which was fantastic.
Tired but Adequate
The accommodation is in need of a serious make-over.
We were treated well enough but the staff were only around for a very short time, otherwise we were the only people in the hotel. The room was small, seriously out of date but comfortable enough for a couple of nights. No food or drinks are served in the hotel, there is an 'Indian' restaurant attached which does has the usual menu from the sub-continent at reasonable prices. The location is right under the Gatwick flight path and there are no facilities (pubs, cafes, shops) in easy walking distance.
