Great little hotel in the centre of Maidstone, 8 mins walk from station.
Very friendly helpful staff. Good value for money and comfortable rooms.
Maybe I was just unlucky with my room, generally good hotel, but terrible nights sleep.
Overall the hotel was of a good standard - looked fine, but could do with perhaps a little more attention to detail/fine tuning.
(eg.. my kettle cord didn't actually reach the plug socket!)
Customer service was mixed - when I first arrived staff seemed friendly and helpful. However at check-out, I felt much less valued as a customer: Having had a terrible nights sleep due to some persistent noise, which sounded like pipes creaking/banging, in my room, every ten minutes.. I waited to be asked how my stay had been.. I wasn't asked.
I'm not one for complaining, but I thought I should at least tell them about the noise, so they might investigate it further. I felt my comment wasn't taken seriously - not only did he not seem apologetic/even concerned that I had had a terrible nights sleep, he also dismissed my suggestion that the noise had sounded like pipes, telling me point blank that it wouldn't be that. I was only trying to suggest they investigate the noise, to avoid anymore unhappy customers in the future.. he said they would look into it, but in a way that suggested they probably wouldn't. Other than that, the room was clean and warm, and fine for a night.
