About the hotel
A four star deluxe hotel right in the centre of Amsterdam and close to everything the city has to offer. An overpriced and completely out of date stay in the city
We booked a last minute trip to Amsterdam & booked the Heritage through late rooms.
The hotel is right in the city centre, just off Rembrandt square. The hotel is absolutely out of date & needs a re-furb. I found it depressing and a total rip off for the amount paid. Our room overlooked a view of a rooftop covered in swampy water & hundreds of cigarette butts. Our room was small but thankfully quiet, but there was a terrible smell in the bathroom, the shower leaked water all over the floor, and the buffet breakfast was basically a bread buffet with disgusting coffee and a tiny offering of fruit & yoghurt. Having just stayed in a fantastic hotel in Berlin for about 2/3 of the price of the Heritage, it was totally shocking how badly this hotel needs to improve. The staff were obviously unhappy to be working there. The only good points about this hotel were the location, and that the beds were comfy (although we were given two single beds despite being a couple). Had I known how bad this hotel would be I would have spent more to stay elsewhere or booked a bed & breakfast. I actually read several reviews saying it was bad but thought it couldn't possibly be as bad as it said... well next time I will heed the warning of other reviewers!
dirty and stinky
I don't normally leave reviews but I was shocked and disgusted by the smell and the lack of cleaning.
The shower chair in my disabled room was that bad I couldn't risk using it for fear of infection even after requesting it to be cleaned which never got done my friends attempted to clean it but was unable due to the fact we had no products and the fact it looked like it had never been cleaned for many years. I have stayed here 2010 and had no complaints whatsoever and found then everything excellent then.
