We booked the Bay Horse for a Saturday night to break up a long journey.
After 14 hours travelling we were greeted by the landlord warmly. He showed us to our room and left us to unpack. The hotel is old and the room was full of character especially the sloping floors and walls - fantastic. Everything you could want was there and the bed comfortable. We spent some time in the bar drinking an excellent pint of Theakstons or two and ate from the menu which changes daily - the food was fantastic (we had lamb shank and belly pork) - large portions and served quickly by very friendly staff. If you are looking for a quality pub B&B this is it - we will be coming back even though it is 4 hours from home. If you like soul-less budget chain hotels this is not for you.
