Room was too far away from main hotel
I was given a room away from the main hotel.
This was not made apparent when I booked.
The site from the pictures looks great, I did not pick up during the booking process that there are rooms in buildings in the grounds as well that are used for conference/training course attendees.
These rooms are very tired and in dire need of modernisation. They look a little dingy and lack AC or even a fan and as the rooms are located in a building with a glass roof it has a greenhouse effect. One day one my shower had a faulty thermostat so it was not possible to shower properly and I had an important meeting and could not mess about. It was fixed by the time I returned. First night we used the main hotel and it took an hour and thirty seven minutes to receive our meal. The staff blamed it on people turning up without reservations but I would suggest if busy with reservered tables it would have been busy, they need more staff (the food when it eventually arrived was very good but at 21.37 just a little to late for me personally). There are other places locally. But of a shame as both my colleague and I thought it was very good. Breakfast is ok if a little limited in choice, they do offer better quality coffee as opposed to the stuff in thermos flasks and if you wanted omelettes etc you have to ask it is not clear this is available. All staff we met were very freindly and professional and very smart. We have a client nearby and this was first time we tried this place, personally think rooms in a Premier Inn are far superior so would have to be desperate to stay again which is a shame as it does not meet its potential as location is wonderful. Perhaps spend some money on modernising rooms and charge more.
