Clarin Guest House
Clean, Modern and friendly.
Guest house was in an ideal location about a 25 minute walk from the city centre, but with buses running very frequently just a short walk from the guest house. Guest house was very quiet with comfy beds, good size television and ensuite. Staff were very friendly and told us about local attractions. Would recommend.

Upon arrival, the owner was very helpful and gave us a fully detailed idea of what transportation was available to us, various places to visit and how we could go about doing so.
He gave us some of his personal recommendations and wrote everything down on a map for us. When we went up to our room, we opened the door to an immaculately tidy and clean room with beds perfectly made and a guest information booklet in clear sight. The room wasn't terribly big but it was perfect for what we needed - somewhere clean, comfortable and cozy to spend our evenings. There was plenty of storage space should we have wanted to unpack and the bathroom was nice and clean, although quite small. The issues we had were payment and the lack of power in the shower because it was a bit like showering under a dribbling tap, but it wasn't too terrible. I had planned to pay the second half of the balance by credit card, however their card machine was not working and so I was forced to withdraw cash, which was a bit of an issue, but I was understanding that these things do happen. In terms of location, Clarin House was a short bus ride from any where in Edinburgh you could possible want to go, so it was perfect for us as we weren't on top of the business of Princes Street but we weren't too far away either. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely stay there again if I returned to Edinburgh.
