Beautiful spacious room and lovely swimming
The room was beautiful with plenty of space for the two of us.
Beautifully decorated and complete with fridge, microwave, kettle and basic cutlery and crockery. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The pool and roof terrace very nice. What more could you want!
When we arrived at the RN, we were told that our room was not ready owing to a 'plumbing problem', and we were being shipped to another 4* hotel for one night - I shall not mention the place, as it wasn't very good.
OK, these things happen... but then we found that it had happened to another couple, who ended up in an even worse place than we did. Then we met three other couples that this had happened to, and two of those said that it had happened to others they had met, and from the stack of apology letters on the check-in desk in the mornings, it seems clear that this is a hotel that either has significant problems and cannot reliably meet its reservations, or it routinely over-books and increases its margin by shipping customers off to inferior hotels in the neighbourhood.
Which is a shame, as when we finally got into the RN we really liked it. The rooms are very nice - ours had a small kitchenette (kettle, microwave, toaster), dining area, large sitting area with a huge TV, a nice bedroom and a good bathroom...no sign of plumbing problems, BTW. The hotel has a small rooftop pool and a clean and modernist (or garish and hideous, depending on your taste) lobby and restaurant. The hotel is quiet but set only one street back from the Strand in central Sliema, and its a short walk to the Valletta ferry.
