One of our rooms was dirty (dirty sheets and, ahem, traces of the last guest in the shower), while the other was spotless - we received an apology and a partial refund for this.
The staff in the lounge were super accommodating of our party, even generously allowing us to bring a make-up artist in to the public area as our rooms weren't ready. This we very much appreciated. Reception staff were helpful and polite. The spa was atrocious. Great difficulty in booking, incorrect prices quoted, slow and clumsy check-in, pool area not clean, every single lounge bed covered in piles of towels, despite signs up saying towels left there would be removed, so nowhere to actually sit (pretty bad when some of our party had spent 55gbp to spend the morning there) and please, cheap fabric slippers in a facility with covered in standing water. Disgusting. Please spring for waterproof flip flops. Our lunch booking was moved without us being informed, so when we arrived at the scheduled time, the delightful serving staff remarked "nuthin I can do, you'll have to talk to reception". This meant our light lunch (which by the way is a panini, end of story) was 20 minutes before our departure time. When we returned for this, we were once again not-so-politely told to go and wait somewhere else as our table wasn't ready. 15 minutes later, we left in a stink after having to fight for a refund for the cost of the lunch we now couldn't eat. Seriously unpleasant end to our stay - I cannot believe Hilton put its name to this.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Chester
When we got to room and I put the shower on the water wouldn't go down only for me to see if something was blocking it and Aload of dirty hair and 2 cotton buds came up from the plug.
Room was changed to a room opposite. In the old room there was 2 bottles of water, in the new room there was a half opened bottle which told me someone had been in the room before. The was also a tea mug in the bathroom. So I basically paid to stay in a room I felt had obviously been used before my stay.
