You pay for hotel location rather than quality off accommodation.
Staff, service and restaurant food were excellent.
The hotel, room and bathroom decor were dark, shabby, battered and depressing and has seen better days(the 18th century perhaps). Fortunately the hallways were being brightened up with a fresh coat of Heritage dark brown gloss paint. The Ladies loos near the restaurant suffered a minor flood and the staff seemed to be familiar with the problem. The location is fabulous, which I can only assume is what you are paying for. Hotel definitely needs a make-over.
Henry Adams Wing disappointing!
Room 11 in need of refurbishment.
Bathroom very small but adequate. Disturbed by early morning commercial deliveries. Arrived at 3pm to check in after long drive. Unable to obtain tea or cakes, told only available at the weekends.
Overall cleanliness could be improved. Staff very friendly and helpful. Idealic location. Will revisit but only to Luxury room.
