retuned to the white lion

we have stayed there before, we enjoyed staying at the white lion and we will return next year.

they do brew their own beer which is very nice. if you enjoy real ale it is worth a visit. if you do not drive there is local buses.

Good Pub. Bad beds!

Good pub, good ale and generally a good service.

However we were kept hanging around for about 10 mins waiting for someone to check us in while parked (on their advice) on double yellow lines outside the pub. Parking info then proved too vague and inaccurate to be of any use. After driving through the middle of Bridgnorth 3 times, we gave up and went to the car park in the lower town. This was not a problem as the Cliff Railway takes you to within 300 yards of the pub and lends opportunity to try out a few more of Bridgnorth's excellent pubs. It was a pity the lady concerned didn't just say to go there in the first place. The room was nice and clean and looked great, but the two single beds in the main room fell apart when I sat on them - at 16 stone 12 lbs I'm not light; but I've never had this happen before!!!!. They didn't break - the slats sprang out - and from the looks of them I'm not the first one to have had to put them back. To get a safe nights sleep my partner and I had to sleep in separate rooms as fortunately the single room had a steel framed bed!!. Breakfast was not provided but this was not a problem as the Castle Tea Rooms across the road provides a superb one for about £6.00. On leaving (10.30 am) we tried and failed to find anybody to leave the keys with or to tell about the bed problem. I ended up leaving the keys on the bar. In conclusion, a nice pub in a good position. Bridgnorth is a lovely little town with lots to do and see. I've answered Yes to the 'Stay again' question, but I'd have to know that the beds had been sorted out first!!
