Excellent Orcadian Experience
From the warm welcome to the spacious accommodation I can find nothing at all to criticise in the facilities offered by Orkney Lodge.
My room was spacious and the facilities included: trouser press, iron and ironing board, safe, flat screen TV, clock radio and a mini fridge. The room was spotlessly clean and very well furnished. The establishment does not have a bar but there is a complimentary carafe of sherry supplied. Breakfast is continental only but there is a good choice of cold meats, cheese and fruit available. I have no hesitation in recommending Orkney Lodge for those looking for quiet accommodation in a rural location.
not a hotel tired and out of date
In need of a total refurbishment if you want to go back to the 70s this is the place for you.
Manager a delightful person trying to make the best of a back dated property with echoes of the past.
The Room your guest was in is less than one year old Cava is name of room. Last June it went live to our guests. We have had very positive feed back from our guests. Bedding is designer NEXT. All carpets beds and furniture bought from a local J&S Allan from Stromness last June. Orkneylodge building is only 14 years old. Recently decorated from top to toe and is bang up to date with Oak furniture. I believe your guest would prefer Gleneagles when he is paying for a Travel Lodge. All the breakfasts here are Complimentary which is not included in price. Your guests came through every morning for their Free Complimentary Breakfasts and finished everything they asked for Scotch Porridge Oats Hard Boiled Eggs also they were happy with the Fresh Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries and Blackberries as well as other Fresh fruit available for them in the Free Buffet, Cheese and Hams from around the world as well as other items free to help themselves too. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you wish to discuss your review. I would have preferred you to complain directly to me if there was anything you were not satisfied instead of putting a review like this about our beautiful lodge. Your review has made our staff sad as we try so hard to please all guests here. You can please some of the guests some of the time. But not all the guests all of the time. We are £85 per night for a room that is a suite that has a separate private sitting are to look at a view of 12 islands and the Scapa Flow. You will find Gleneagles is almost £1000 a night for the same facilities, will views of no islands. Thank you for your review.
