Beautiful setting and great staff, Just one downfall.
Staff were great upon arrival and the setting and house is beautiful.
Presented very well. All the rooms are very individual which is great. Breakfast was lovely, service was great. The only downfall I had was that when we arrived we were firstly taken to a twin which we had booked a double, this was easily solved. We were put in the Dunsley room. Although it was very clean and tidy the bed was very hard and gave both me and my partner a bad back. This was very unfortunate as we had a wedding to attend and it just ruined our day and evening following our stay. To make matters worse we then found out that the Throckmorton Suite was free and after speaking to the staff in the morning they said they didn't know why we were not offered that room to stay in. We weren't even asked. Even if it would of meant paying extra, it would of been nice for them to have asked. We definitely would of gone for it. That's not to say we wouldn't stay there again as the staff were very pleasant in greeting us and the breakfast was great. I would just make sure we had the better room.
We are sorry to hear of the confusion with your booking and on further inspection I have found the original booking to have been made via laterooms to be for a superior twin room. I am so glad the staff were quick to resolve this issue and we are so sorry to hear that you have suffered some discomfort due to a firm mattress. We will always be happy to upgrade to a deluxe room as in the Throckmorton if it is available. We hope you will return to see us again in the near future and please do not hesitate to ask
if any of our deluxe rooms are available.
A lovely country house hotel with pretty garden
We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was lovely.
It was nice to have a garden to sit in given the warm April weather. We ate in the restaurant and the food was of good quality and value. The dining room however lacked atmosphere as the overhead lighting was very white. Room was well appointed and overlooked the garden. There was some traffic noise as the hotel is near to the main road. Lovely setting and staff were helpful.
