Ambassador Hotel

This place is overpriced, I think the prices are so high just because they have a "sea view" which is nice, no doubt.

Free parking on the street, which is good but the street is very full with other users. Free usage of the facilities, which is good (we didn't use them). Going into our room I was expecting champagne waiting there, but it wasn't , no phone to call down to reception, I walked down to ask where it was. The receptionist was helpful and told me they will get some to us shortly. Prosecco arrived then a few minutes a small bottle of champagne arrived. O.K, I'll take that for £30. The room had traces of mildew in corners. A very loose bed side light switch, a dead wasp on the floor, and the bathroom looked tired and the shower had traces of limescale on it. During the night our room developed a drip which came from the ceiling, at 3am I went to see the night porter who was a cool guy, I was told the rest of the hotel was full and offering me the only 2 uncleaned rooms would be an insult to us. I thought, O.K, no worries. We`d make do with the situation. Eventually the drip stopped and we got some sleep. We spoke to the manager in the morning about the situation and she offered us some money back on my bill. Which I gratefully accepted. The breakfast options are good with lots to choose from. The only downside was the very greasy fried eggs. It's a shame about this place the owners need to put some money into decorating and drag up the standard to shake off what seems to be a lot of negative reviews to this establishment.
