White Waters Country Hotel
We loved our stay.
Great location, quiet, peaceful, chilled and very scenic. Awesome sun terrace with good children's play area, even a jumparoo which was perfect for our 5 month old. Fantastic service, never had to wait more than a minute for bar service, even though we were still sat at our dinner table an hour after kitchen closed this was no problem at all. The lift was a nice surprise as we had a buggy. Spacious room (big enough to have a large travel cot), shower was good, all clean and comfortable. To be really picky the only things to say on the negative side would be the pool was too cold or not working to go in which would have been disappointing if the weather hadn't been so good. A fridge would have been handy in the room too but didn't really matter. The owners obviously take pride in running a nice place, will stay again for sure.
Single night stay
My initial email contact was helpful and reception staff were friendly.
I sat out on the deck over the river which was lovely but gave up on dining there as children were using the whole of the deck as a race track on scooters - encouraged by there parents. Staff did not intervene.
I was very disappointed to find that the bathroom was dirty - I only noticed this when I ran a bath and there were silverfish on the bath and the floor. I called down to reception to tell them and that the TV didn't work - After half an hour of trying, I gave up. I really did not want to get dressed again after a very long day's travel. I told reception when I checked out and they were apologetic. I went in for Sunday breakfast at 9am and received my pot of tea after 9.30. Breakfast arrived just before 10am. Apparently someone had failed to give the right numbers to the restaurant staff the night before so they weren't prepared - but they didn't tell me that until later - too late to go elsewhere. There was no apology. It is a lovely location and most of the staff were very helpful - but the standards are well below the price range.
