Don't be fooled by 4* rating or fake freebies!!
Where to start?.
An absolute shocker of a hotel, and not at all worthy of their 4* status. Booked 7 nights, but left after 2 demanding a refund due to the quality of the hotel and the ineptitude of the staff. It is worth noting that Late Rooms allow hotels to give themselves a star rating, which I think this hotel have abused to attract business. The photos of the hotel are quite deceiving. The hotel is narrow and our room, although spacious, was absolutely nothing like the pictures which were used to represent the type of room I booked. I was not able to see the room before paying for the entire stay (with no refund written in capitals on the receipt!) but if I had I would have immediately left. The room was dark, and many panels damaged. Not horrible, but as I say nothing like the pictures. There was also a very loud generator outside the window on a narrow ledge, which as far as I can see appear to be outside each room. There was minimal hot water: the shower stayed lukewarm for a couple of minutes and then you just got cold water. The TV reception cut out regularly, not ideal either. There were also a couple of complete blackouts in the hotel, where the power went completely. The promise of free wifi in the room was also not forthcoming, something which I complained about on the first day and despite promises someone would come to our room and sort it out, by the time we left two days later no-one had come to help. There was also a quite prominent information sheet explaining what there should be in your room (plates, cutlery etc) with a list of prices if you lost anything, but some of the stuff was missing. They did not try to charge us for this however.
Apart from the room, the other main problem seemed to be the staff themselves. They were never helpful, and management were unwilling to take action when necessary. For example, we requested a taxi and, instead of getting us a reputable local firm, we were led outside to haggle with several taxi drivers ourselves. When we agreed a price, it turned out it wasn't even a taxi driver but a civilian trying to earn money by giving us a lift. Completely unsafe. There were also other people on our floor blatantly smoking in the hallway, and children running down the corridors ringing the bell on everyone's apartments when they were trying to sleep, but as far as I know these issues were not addressed by management as they continued constantly. Also don't be fooled by the "free" offers. We did not get the free wifi at all, the tuk tuk shuttle merely takes you about 100 feet to the main road, and we had all sorts of issues with the tour. To call it free is ridiculous, there are 3 choices of tour, but each involve you paying up to £12 per person to enter either temples or boats. Therefore what you are really getting is a free taxi, and these are cheap anyway. We never got to go on our tour anyway: we could not go on the first two days as the tour guide was not available so they arranged the tour for a third day, then cancelled it as we were assembling at the hotel entrance at 8 in the morning.
Finally, after 2 days we had to leave as the hotel was ruining our holiday. However the hotel says we have to wait a month for the refund, which at the time of writing I have not received. I cannot stress enough, do not go here!!!.
