Mixture of feelings

I enjoy travelling a lot, as a result I have stayed in places such as hostels, B&B and hotels in UK and outside the country.

I'm not a fuzzy customer, all I care about is comfy bed, clean bathroom and good food. I have to say that this hotel has delivered all of the above. However, in the past I've either liked the accommodation or the opposite, never have I had mixed feelings about somewhere I've stayed, apart from this hotel. Pros

The rooms are clean, with complimentary teas and coffee. Bed is super comfy. Location of the hotel is superb, 10 mins walk to the city centre. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. I had dinner at the brasserie, the seafood pasta was absolutely delicious.

It had swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Cons

Breakfast was a combination of buffet and order from the menu. You either order English breakfast or grilled fish, this was not part of the buffet. The buffet part only included juices, yoghurts and cereal. Some of you don't mind because you are healthy eaters, I put it down as a con because I love English breakfast and I thought it was like other hotels where you can eat as much sausage and scrambled eggs as you want. The hotel is not well sound-proofed. I can hear stumping sounds from my room. I've stayed in the hotel for two nights, and I was woken both nights by the sound of other guests' footsteps, I'm not a light sleeper. I've stayed in a hotel next to a night club before and I didn't hear that much noise. The wifi signal is weak in the room, so I tried to use my own data instead, and I can't use my own data either as it got slow as well. TV is fairly small, it was the size of a monitor screen. Back to breakfast again, I waved my hand at a staff trying to tell her that they'd forgotten to bring my toasts, and I can hear her muttering under her breath 'what does she want?' to another staff before heading towards me, made me feel bad that my desire to have toast with my breakfast had ruined her mood. Overall it was a nice hotel, I'd say it used to be a 3 star hotel but some improvements should be made in order to maintain that status.

New Continental Plymouth

Very disappointing.

Room cold. No shampoo or conditioner. Had to wash my hair in shower gel. Bathroom window did not fit so very draughty with blind rattling all night. Bathroom window was see through therefore blind had to be down all the time. There was only one bedside light therefore bright main light had to be on to read. Breakfast good. Comfy bed. Was charged 3 pounds for parking but didnt see that on the web site. Decoration tired needs a spring clean. Paid 90 for one night expected more for my money.
