Clean, satisfactory room on top floor, was as expected.
All in working order. Decor a little outdated but I don't think this matters. Noise level was made clear, however I am a heavy sleeper who can fall asleep anywhere and even I thought it was very loud and took me a while to get to sleep. As long as you expect this, you won't be too disappointed. I was on the top floor and the club is in the basement. Don't stay here on a weekend if you need silence to sleep. Bargain price in a great location, close to the city centre and public transport links. Breakfast was absolutely incredible - I'd stay again for the breakfast alone. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Do not stay here during the week unless you are after a disturbed night
I booked this hotel as I had an interview in sheffield the next morning.
Little did I realise that this hotel is above a very noisy bar which is more like a nightclub which plays music to the point that it reverberates in the bedrooms until 4 am. And this was despite the fact that it was a Monday, and there were perhaps 2 people in the bar. The staff had a well-rehearsed line stating their webpage warns there is a bar downstairs, but not for a million years would I have expected (even if I had read this) a banging nightclub playing hardcore dance music until 4am. After 2-3 hours of trying to sleep, I actually had to leave in the middle of the night to find another hotel. Not once did the staff offer a refund or any real apology or understanding of the fact that I had an important job interview. The room was also pretty substandard, with stains on the floor and walls near the radiator, but that wasn't my main issue, it was the noise which was just impossible to sleep through. This was more like some sort of student dorm. An absolute disaster.
On the plus side, the vegan burger was nice.
