I booked this hotel for £150.00 for one night, as I had been feeling rather down I thought I would treat myself to a touch of luxury.
I came into the hotel by the wrong entrance and when I was eventually found the reception I was delighted at the modern, spacious area. My room was on the ground floor and I was told I had been upgraded from a studio room to a one bedroom apartment. As I was in a rush I literally threw my bags into the room and dashed off. However, when I came back later that evening I discovered what a complete mess the room (well actually one room partitioned off into 3) was. So cross was I that I decided to go and have a word with reception and then to the bar for a glass of wine before bed. Reception was manned by someone who did not appear to understand what I was saying, so I asked for the bar only to be shown an area with 2 door managers, one of whom pushed me into a dark room between 2 doors and left me there, after a minute or so I opened the outer door and left. How bizarre. do they do that with all over 60's in an effort to put them off going into the private area. Was I such an embarrassment that they wanted to hide me. Anyway, I went back to the room to watch TV this was the start of a great evening, the TV did not work, showing only a very poor quality foreign programme. I could not change either the volume or the programme. So no TV, no glass of wine, decided to have a shower and go to bed. The shower head was not just dirty and lime caked but produced just a trickle of tepid water, so now no TV, no glass of wine and now no shower. There was a curious bumping sound coming from the bathroom wall, I could not determine where it was coming from. OK the bed had nice clean sheet, at this point I was grateful for small mercies. I always travel with earplugs and a sleep mask so the bumping and the thin curtains were not too much of a problem. The following morning in the cold light of day I realised quite what a shabby hole this was, I have attached some photos just to give you some sort of idea what you are up against if you book this hotel. Even the loo seat was dirty, this is unforgivable in this day and age. I was under the impression smoking was not allowed in hotels etc, well this room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke which I find distasteful. On booking out I informed the desk clerk that the the TV didn't work, this was dismissed with "the batteries were probably flat", really. If I had my way the management of this place would have to address the complaints of the many clients who, judging by the reviews I have read since returning home, are clearly disappointed in the extreme.
Excellent accommodation but the whole experience was marred by being robbed
I needed to stay near the Brompton Hospital at late notice because my daughter had to undergo heart surgery.
Having stayed at the Chelsea Cloisters before and knowing how great the apartments are, with parking (via a third party with discount), I decided to stay again, but phoning the Cloisters directly proved frugal. Fortunately Laterooms showed availability so a booking was made and on arrival I was pleasantly surprised to find I had been upgraded free of charge to a superbly facilitated apartment. Unfortunately the whole experience was destroyed by the fact that someone had entered the apartment between 2pm and 6pm and stole two items, from two different bags, in two different locations within the apartment. This is only an assumption, but the apartment had been cleaned during this time so it is only normal to assume the cleaning staff are responsible for this, unless the Cloisters give spare keys to another party without customer knowledge. I am a fair person to assume something may have accidentally gone a miss if an item was left which could have been knocked into a cleaning sack by accident, but for someone to deliberately enter your luggage to steal I find completely abhorrent. When the staff on reception were informed they could only offer an apology because the cleaning company are apparently outsourced and I do hope they took this matter further, but sadly I will not be returning and would not advise others to do so either.
