The room was extremely shabby and tired and unfortunately the noise at night from the club downstairs and the street outside was terrible until around 3am.
However it is in a great location, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was lovely and the pass to the Macdonald hotel spa next door was a very nice bonus as I'm sure that that alone would cost around £15 per person. I stayed in room 9 and can't comment on other rooms but this certainly did not look like any of the pictures on the website. If the rooms were modernised and sound proofing improved, I would probably stop again for the convenient location but not as the hotel currently is.
Perfect little hotel
We stayed at the Stags Head for one night in a family room which consisted of a double bed and bunk beds.
Room was lovely beds where comfy, and the shower was nice and hot. Had a peaceful sleep no noise what so ever. Breakfast the next morning was lovely very ample. The only downside is the hotel don't have a car park and finding a space was a little difficult l. Having said that if you arrive early enough I'm sure you would find a car space very easily,
Had a brilliant weekend and would definitely return to the Stags Head
