Beautiful place, not 4 star food
Hotel has most beautiful gardens with enclosed quadrangle ideal for a quiet drink and watching the swallows.
We go largely for this. Pleasant helpful staff. Good breakfast apart from WEAKEST coffee imaginable. Evening food ok but not great ( one meal dry, the other greasy) and wait of about 40 minutes for service. No phone service or WiFi from room, but was from front of hotel. Rooms reasonably sized and well fitted out. Hotel is dog friendly.
Leaves a lot to be desired.
Room 4, which we occupied, is directly above the kitchen.
Noise, smell and heat were all apparent in our room when we returned after our meal. In the restaurant, our wine was forgotten, the sauce on the steak was wrong, it took 4 attempts before the waiter managed to get the right dessert wine, and our dessert course was not delivered. I would have expected, given the 4 stars, that the restaurant would have had a Maitre d' in attendance, but the waiters, all very young, seemed to have been left to their own devices. Not a happy experience!
