Hotel with a history

We arrived on Sunday evening with a small boat in tow and found ample space to park both car and boat.

We were hoping to eat at the hotel (and have a bottle of wine with the meal) but discovered that there were no evening meals on Sunday evenings. The receptionist was helpful in saying we could bring a take-away in and also directed us to a pub not too far away which did evening meals. She looked up on the internet that it was doing food and that we would not be too late and printed off a map of how to get there. It was too far to walk so drinking had to be restrained. The room was OK, nothing special but clean enough. The shower head when we used it in the morning did not produce a good spray but did enough to have a shower, and we reported this to the receptionist suggesting that it might need de-scaling. Overall the hotel is a little tired but then it is also quite old having originally been the station master's house and then a hostel before becoming a hotel. However it was quite cheap and we had a comfortable night and breakfast was available earlier than in some places enabling us to get away promptly and enjoy the rest of the day.
